No suspects are in custody after a Cape Girardeau man was shot Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old man is expected to recover, Cape Girardeau police Sgt. Adam Glueck said.
About 9 p.m., the man was shot in the parking lot of an apartment building at 210 S. Hanover St. He was shot once on the side of his body, Glueck said, and still was in the hospital Wednesday morning.
A witness said she saw the man who shot the victim from her porch and that he was an African-American man in a pink shirt, bluejeans and a colorful belt around his waist.
At the time of the shooting, a witness said she saw the man running south along South Hanover Street.
"It is unknown at this time if this incident is connected to any previous shootings, but that is certainly something investigators are checking on," Glueck said.
On July 22, shootings occurred around Cape Girardeau in three locations. One woman, later identified as Paige Smith, was critically injured June 29 after being shot in the head during an apparent drive-by shooting in front of 401 S. Hanover St. Three juvenile suspects were detained Wednesday.
Glueck said the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad was not deployed for this shooting.
