A Cape Girardeau man was stabbed after trying to fend off a gun-wielding robber Wednesday night, police said.
At around 9:30 p.m., a black male suspect with a gun entered an apartment in the 600 block of South Spring Avenue and demanded money from the resident, Cape Girardeau police public-information officer Sgt. Adam Glueck said Thursday.
The victim told police he tried to defend himself with a knife during the robbery, but a struggle ensued. The suspect gained the knife and stabbed the resident in the shoulder, Glueck said.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Glueck said.
Property was stolen but police are not releasing further details regarding the property at this time, Glueck said.
Police had not identified the suspect or taken anyone into custody in connection with the robbery, Glueck said Thursday morning.
