Cape Girardeau police confiscated about $184,00 worth of heroin and marijuana on Saturday when they arrested a former Cape Girardeau resident.

The arrest was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, said Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the police department.

Tracy L. Selvy, 37, of Memphis, Tenn. and Vincent A. Davis, 35, of West Memphis, Tenn., were both charged with second degree trafficking and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

The two men were driving from Tennessee when they were stopped by police within Cape Girardeau city limits, Hovis said.

About two and half pounds of a substance containing heroin and around 10 pounds of marijuana were found in their possession.

Selvy's last convictions in Cape Girardeau County involved a 1999 guilty plea for resisting arrest and a 2000 conviction for third degree assault.

Bond for both men was set at $500,000 cash only.

If convicted, Selvy and Davis could face up to 45 years in prison.

The haul of heroin would likely have fetched close to $168,00 on the street, and the marijuana was worth around $16,000, Hovis said.

Officers from the US Drug Enforcement Agency, the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were involved in the drug investigation.
