Police arrested the wife of Hamburger Express manager Ron Davis on Tuesday after she threatened an employee at the Cape Girardeau restaurant's drive-through window.
Police didn't identify her other than to say she was the wife of the fast-food manager. She was being held in the Cape Girardeau city jail late Tuesday pending the filing of formal charges.
Patrolman Jason Selzer said the incident occurred at 1:22 p.m. at 902 William. The woman drove up to the restaurant's drive-through window and allegedly threatened a man working in the restaurant if he didn't leave her son alone, Selzer said.
Police reported that witnesses said she held up a gun case that may have contained a shotgun.
"The gun never came out of the case," Selzer said. But the threat, Selzer said, implied that the case held a shotgun. "The guy was in fear," he said.
Selzer said the woman apparently was reacting to a monetary dispute between the employee and her son, who is Ron Davis' stepson.
Selzer said police arrested the woman at her home in the 700 block of Albert Street about 15 minutes after the incident.
Selzer said Ron Davis helped talk his wife into surrendering. Police searched the house and confiscated a shotgun.
Ron Davis said he wasn't in the restaurant when the incident occurred and didn't know about the altercation between the employee and his stepson. "It was just an altercation that got out of hand," he said.
