Two suspects are in custody for their alleged involvement in a robbery of Medicap Pharmacy in Scott City earlier this afternoon.

Shortly after 1 p.m., two men entered the pharmacy, and one of them placed a duffle bag on the counter, showed a knife and demanded the drug OxyContin, according to Scott City police chief David Leeman.

The suspects then retreated to a car waiting outside the pharmacy where a woman waited. According to Leeman, the woman forced the men out of her car when she realized what they were doing. She then drove to the Scott City Police Department. During an interview with police, the suspects called the woman. A meeting was arranged at a Cape Girardeau motel where the men were arrested at 3:04 p.m. by Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Missouri Highway Patrol officers and other officers, according to Leeman.

A man demanded the drug OxyContin and left what he called a bomb at Medicap Pharmacy in Scott City this afternoon, according to pharmacy owner Dave Charlier.

Scott City Police, the Southeast Missouri Regional Bomb Squad and other agencies are investigating. A two-block radius on either side of the pharmacy, 2220 Main St., has been cordoned off. A robotic bomb retrieval unit has been deployed to the scene.

Scott City schools had been on lockdown, but buses were seen leaving the school at about 3:10 p.m.

The man was given the drugs he demanded, Charlier said. The suspect has not been apprehended yet.
