Saturday at 2 p.m. the Polar Bear Plunge will take place at Lake Boutin at Trail of Tears State Park to raise money for the Special Olympics of Missouri.
This year 183 plungers are scheduled to take a dip in the frozen water and that number is growing in part to the efforts of law enforcement. Lieutenant John (Buddy) Davis of the Cape police Department has enough men and women to fill several "heats".

The minimum donation to plunge is $50 and gets you a commemorative sweatshirt.
Costumes are welcome as are more plungers. The golden plunger will be awarded to the most creative costumes as chosen by celebrity judges. KZIM KSIM's Faune Riggin will be the emcee. Buckner Brewing Co. is hosting and sponsoring an after party and awards ceremony. Go to somo.org for more information.
