"The contractors came in on time; we're open," said Harry Sanders, president of Sanders Enterprises Inc.
Sanders said equipment was moved into the company's new 12,000-square-foot building Thursday and Friday, and final testing will be completed throughout March, with production to get under way late this month.
"We want to be in production by March 31," said Sanders, of the new, plastics-recycling company in the Nash Road Industrial Park.
Macon Construction and the sub-contractors had to overcome some hazards to get the building completed by the targeted March 1.
"They had to work around two snows, but they got it done," said an appreciative Sanders.
The company will hire about 30 people to start operations.
"We run daytime shifts only to start," said Sanders. "But we hope to eventually run 24 hours a day."
Sanders was previously manager of Mildenberger & Willing Packaging U.S. Inc.. He is a native of Belgium and a graduate of the European Technical University of Ghent.
