FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Conservation is asking for public help to find the vandals who defaced sections of pink granite at the Castor River Shut-Ins near Fredericktown.
According to a news release, the pink granite of the shut-ins was spray painted in nine different locations. Conservation department employees are researching how to remove the paint without releasing chemicals into the watershed.
The pink granite shut-ins at Castor River are a popular destination in the department's Southeast Region. Russell Duckworth, a district supervisor, said in the release that he is asking for the public to share any information involving this case with law enforcement.
Information may be reported by calling Operation Game Thief at 800-392-1111. Reports may remain anonymous. Information leading to an arrest of those responsible could result in a cash reward. Information can also be shared by calling or texting Madison County Conservation Agent Scott Bumgardaner at 573-934-0824.
