PERRYVILLE -- A new jewelry store will open here this summer.
Lepco Systems Inc. of Cape Girardeau has purchased equipment, fixtures and furniture of the former Rudert Jewelers of Perryville, and is leasing the building from its owners, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rudert of Perryville. The Ruderts recently retired after 43 years in the jewelry business.
"Present plans call for remodeling and modernization of the interior of the building, which will house a second location for Pind's Jewelry, to open about June 1," said a Lepco spokesman.
The spokesman said two former Rudert employees, Florence Steffens and Angel Petzoldt, will continue with Pind's Jewelry in Perryville.
Pind's Jewelry of Cape Girardeau, in West Park Mall, was founded in 1947 by Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Pind. It recently completed its 45th year of business.
Pind's of Perryville will carry a wide variety of merchandise, including diamonds, colored gemstones, fashion jewelry and nationally advertised watches and giftware. Pind's also features a complete service and repair department for jewelry and watches.
