CAPE GIRARDEAU - Melina Gray, a senior at Southeast Missouri State University, recently won a top prize at the regional meeting of the Society of Physics Students in Springfield. She was recognized for her presentation of a paper on "Microwave Dielectric Response of High-Tc Superconductor."
Gray, of Holcomb, is majoring in engineering physics at Southeast.
Colleges and university students from Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas presented papers on their research, including University of Missouri-Rolla, University of Missouri- Kansas City, Southwest Missouri State, University of Kansas and Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City. Judges awarded the top prize to the paper representing the best in research, style and thoroughness.
In addition to the recognition from the national office, she received a leather notebook, pen and pencil set and organizer.
Dr. Jai Dahiya of the physics department is her faculty sponsor and research adviser. Dr. Richard Cannon of the physics department is the adviser of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) Club at Southeast.
