Kasel Associates Industries Inc. is recalling pet treats manufactured from April 20 through Sept. 19 because of potential salmonella contamination.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said brands such as Boots and Barkley, Colorado Naturals, Nature's Deli and others are affected. People and animals can be infected with salmonella through either contact or consumption. The Kasel-manufactured products are sold at retailers including Target, Petco, Sam's Club and Costco.
Consumers with recalled products are asked to dispose of them in a manner inaccessible to animals.
Anyone handling pet treats should wash their hands thoroughly and sanitize any surface or instrument that came into contact with the treats.
Pets who have been in contact with any recalled item, or who shows symptoms such as lethargy, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting, should be seen immediately by their veterinarian
