Perryville teen charged with selling drugs near school

A Perryville, Missouri, man is facing charges after allegedly selling marijuana in a school zone.

Perry County Prosecuting Attorney Thomas L. Hoeh has charged Charles Nenninger, 17, with one count of felony distribution of a controlled substance near schools. If convicted, he could face 10 to 30 years in prison.

A probable-cause statement by Perryville police Det. Ryan Worthington states Nenninger met with a juvenile April 8 across the street from St. Vincent High School and sold him about a gram of "green vegetation," apparently marijuana, for $20.

The juvenile's mother witnessed the sale, took the substance away and notified police, Worthington wrote.

A warrant for Nenniger's arrest was issued April 27, and he was given a bond of $10,000. His bond was later reduced to $5,000 cash or surety, which he posted.

Theresa White has been appointed Nenninger's public defender. He waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday, and will next appear in Perry County Circuit Court on June 26 for arraignment.
