Donald E. Merrill, 68, of Perryville was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on the interstate when it ran off the right side of the roadway around 4:15 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The vehicle then struck a barrier before overturning near U.S. 67.

The vehicle was totaled and Merrill was transported by ambulance to St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. The highway patrol said Merrill was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
