A Perryville, Missouri, man was arrested after he struck an adult male relative with a metal pipe and baseball bat Sunday, according to Perry County sheriff’s deputies.
Perry County Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Hoeh charged Cody Eugene Boland, 19, with second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
Boland’s bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Deputies Amber Crites and Bethany Zarcone spoke with the victim at the sheriff’s office Sunday and noted he had bruising to his left temple, ear and neck, according to a probable-cause statement filed in the case by Zarcone. The victim also complained of pain in his ribcage and lower back and swelling to his wrist, according to the statement. Photographs were taken of the victim’s injuries, Zarcone wrote.
The victim said all his injuries were sustained when he fought with Boland at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Perry County Road 316, Zarcone wrote.
Boland struck the victim with a closed fist and choked him using his arm, according to the statement.
The victim said Boland also struck him in the wrist with a baseball bat, the statement read.
Crites and Zarcone interviewed Boland on Monday after reading him his Miranda rights. Boland said he struck the victim, choked him and struck him with a metal pipe and metal baseball bat, Zarcone wrote.
Crites seized the baseball bat and metal pipe as evidence, according to the statement.
