PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Three men robbed a Perryville hotel at gunpoint early Thursday morning, officials said.

About 3:20 a.m., three men entered the Super 8 Hotel, 1119 Vincent Drive, brandished weapons and demanded money from the register, said police chief Keith Tarrillion. One carried a rifle, one carried a shotgun and the third carried a handgun, Tarrillion said.

The men fled through a side entrance with an undisclosed amount of money, Tarrillion said.

Officers arrived on the scene about two minutes after the incident, Tarrillion said. There was no surveillance video in the hotel or in the parking lot, he said.

"The hotel has security doors. These were not locked at the time," Tarrillion said. "They probably were supposed to be."

The hotel sits at near the interchange for Interstate 55 and Highway 51.

"We've had a few armed robberies at hotels over the years," he said. "It doesn't happen every day."
