PERRYVILLE -- Voters in Perryville will elect three new members to the Perry County Board of Education Tuesday.
Six people are running for two, three-year terms on the board, including former district special services director Wiliferd Lair. There are two candidates for a one-year term on the board.
Seeking the three-year terms are Helen Brewer, June Bodenschatz, Dennis Martin, Wayne Schlinder, Roger Broeker and Lair. Lair resigned his administrative post in August.
Schlindler, appointed to the board in November to fill a seat vacated by the death of Marion Berkbuegler, is the only incumbant to seek another term.
The one-year term is being vacated by David Crader, a Perryville banker who was appointed in September to fill a seat vacated by Doug Johnson, who moved out of town.
Jim Chappius has also not sought reelection for a three year term.
Races have developed in all three wards for the Perryville Board of Aldermen. Incumbants Paul Dunlap, Ward One; J. Paul Simpson, Ward Two; and David E. Nagle, Ward Three, are all seeking reelection.
Facing Dunlap for the Ward One seat will be John A. Hagar. Clarence "Jack" Zahner will face Simpson in Ward Two and Gertrude "Gertie" Unterreiner will face Nagel in Ward Three.
