A Perryville couple will be arraigned on drug charges Friday in Perry County Court.
Kenneth Paul Zahner, 56, and Pamela Sue Zahner, 54, are charged with several counts of manufacturing and intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Kenneth Zahner also was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, and Pamela Zahner was charged with several counts of possession of a controlled substance.
On Sept 10, Perry County sheriff's deputies conducted a search at Kenneth Zahner's residence, according to a probable-cause statement from deputy Jason Kelley. Officers found four ounces of processed marijuana and 125 marijuana plants, some as tall as 24 feet, Kelley wrote.
Officers also found two shotguns and a revolver on the property.
After she was read her rights, Pamela Zahner told officers about a safe in the bedroom that contained marijuana, Kelley wrote. The safe also contained the prescription painkilling drugs Tramadol and hydrocodone, Kelley wrote.
Pamela Zahner later was searched before entering the Perry County Jail. Alprazolam and Percoset were found, and she did not have a prescription for either drug, Kelley wrote.
