The Perryville, Missouri, chamber of commerce�s executive director is stepping down after less than a year on the job, according to a news release sent Monday.
The Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced Monday it received a letter of resignation from executive director Emily Steele, effective Monday.
�We wish her well in her new endeavors,� the release stated.
Steele had been executive director since June, according to her LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, she served as operations and recreation supervisor for the Perry Park Center for nearly five years.
In September, Steele told the Southeast Missourian her work for the park center included planning events, and her work for the chamber also required event planning, including Mayfest, held each May, and Solarfest, held to celebrate the Aug. 21, 2017, solar eclipse.
�The Board of Directors� top priority will be to secure a new executive director that will fit the needs of the community and membership,� the release stated.
The Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce includes more than 450 memberships, according to the organization�s website.
