PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- At a special Thursday meeting of the Perry County School Board, members voted to offer a three-year contract to Scott Ireland as superintendent of the Perry County School District. Ireland accepted the offer.
Ireland is superintendent of the Pleasant Hope School District in Pleasant Hope, Mo., He was one of three finalists presented at the district staff meeting Tuesday. He said one of a superintendent's primary jobs is community relations, and he promised to have an open-door policy that will provide teachers and administrators access.
Ireland's duties begin July 1. He will replace Kevin Dunn, who is retiring after six years.
