PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A drug bust in Perry County last week netted 15 marijuana plants and three arrests. Kathy L. Cavins, 45, Paul M. Cavins, 43, and Danielle L. Velders, 18, were arrested June 1 when Perry County officers searched the Cavins' home at 1944 N. Kingshighway in Perryville. During the search, police found 15 marijuana plants, some processed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and illegally possessed prescription drugs, according to a news release from the Perry County Sheriff's Office. Paul Cavins was charged with felony manufacture, produce or attempt to manufacture more than five grams of marijuana in a residence when a child was present. Authorities were still looking for him as of Friday.

Old Toll Road to close Monday for a month

Old Toll Road will be closed at its Highway 34/72 intersection in Jackson starting at noon on Monday for about one month while the intersection is re-aligned as part of phase 2 of the Highway 34/72 improvements. Phase 2 extends from one mile west of the Highway 25 intersection to 2.2 miles west of Highway 25 and includes widening and resurfacing. Construction of phase 2 of the project is expected to be complete in spring 2007.

Woman charged with marijuana possession

A Jackson woman was arrested and charged this week with marijuana possession. Police executed a search warrant Thursday for the home of Kimberly O'Neal, 21, of 1114 Morton St., according to the Jackson Police Department. She was charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child.
