Perry County deputies got a break recently with the arrest of Paul L. Bainter, 44, by St. Charles County authorities.

Perry County detective Brian McCain interviewed Bainter on several occasions and gained his admission to five burglaries in Perry County over the last two years. Bainter faces two counts of burglary and three counts of stealing.

This brings the burglaries cleared for 2002 to 28 out of 45 -- a 62 percent clearance rate for the sheriff's department. It also brings the burglaries cleared for 2003 to 22 out of 37, or 59 percent.
