Missouri student attends conference
Stacey Nagel, a senior at Francis Howell Central High School in St. Charles, Mo., is attending the National Young Leaders Conference this week in Washington, D.C.
The conference is a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Nagel will be among 400 students from across the country to attend the event.
She is the daughter of Blane and Carolyn Nagel of St. Charles, and the granddaughter of Laura Nagel of Cape Girardeau and Carroll and Mary McAfee of Sikeston, Mo.
Kuper, Hekmat honored at appreciation banquet
Two local educators were recently honored at an Educator Appreciation Banquet held by the Missouri Academy of Science, Mathematics and Computing in Maryville, Mo.
Educators from across the state were nominated by academy students. Among those honored was Lenny Kuper of Notre Dame Regional High School, who was nominated by Stephanie Davis of Cape Girardeau. Susan Hekmat, a teacher at Central High School, was also honored. Hekmat was nominated by Stephanie Jordan of Cape Girardeau.
