Thieves steal pop singer's car, paintings

LONDON -- Thieves broke into pop singer George Michael's mansion and drove off with his $114,000 Aston Martin sports car and $140,000 in paintings, jewelry and clothing, according to a tabloid report Sunday.

Scotland Yard officials declined to confirm the victim's identity, but said they received a call about a stolen vehicle Wednesday morning. Officers went to a home in Hampstead, where the pop star's $4.3 million home is located, and found it had been burglarized, a police spokesman said.

The News of the World reported Sunday that Michael, who rarely uses his London home, was in Los Angeles at the time.

MTV joins reality TV with 'The Osbournes'

RADNOR, Pa. -- First, there was "Survivor." Then came "Fear Factor."

Now, reality television watchers can follow the daily activities of rock musician Ozzy Osbourne and his family on MTV in "The Osbournes."

"What you see on the show is absolutely us," Osbourne says in the Feb. 23 issue of TV Guide. "None of it's been doctored or manufactured. It's real. It's the Ozzy Osbourne 'Real World.'"

In one episode, his 17-year-old daughter has a birthday party and he spends the evening wagging his finger at her friends, yelling "Don't smoke!" and trying to be heard over thumping techno music.

"What is this?" Osbourne finally asks. "It's music to get a brain seizure by."

The show begins March 5.

Collins, 68, and 36-year-old Percy Gibson were married in front of 175 guests at Claridge's Hotel in London.

"Joan Collins is now Mrs. Gibson," said her spokeswoman, Stella Wilson.

Wilson said Collins wore a full-length, lilac silk gown with a train. She would not comment further because Collins sold exclusive rights to the story to OK! magazine, and there was tight security at the hotel to protect the photo exclusive.

Collins announced her engagement to Peruvian-born theater manager Gibson in December. The couple met when Collins appeared in a touring production of the play "Love Letters" in the United States. Gibson helped edit Collins' new novel, "Star Quality."

Collins has appeared in films since the 1950s, but achieved her greatest fame as scheming Alexis Colby in 1980s soap opera "Dynasty."

She has written an autobiography and a series of novels, but is equally renowned for her glamorous lifestyle and multiple marriages.

"I have always tried to live my life with enthusiasm and pleasure," Collins once said.

Collins has three children from her previous marriages. The oldest -- 38-year-old Tara Newley -- is two years older than her new husband.

Novelist won't get reserve seat at trial

HOUSTON -- Crime novelist Suzy Spencer, who wrote "Breaking Point" about a Houston mother accused of drowning her children, won't have a reserved seat in the courtroom when Andrea Yates' trial starts today.

Yates confessed to drowning her five children in the family bathtub last year and is charged with two counts of capital murder. Her attorney says she is innocent by reason of insanity.

The state judge designated 50 courtroom seats for reporters, but Spencer sent her application on personal stationary, not official letterhead as the court required. Her request was denied.
