ABC anchor slated to receive Murrow award

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Peter Jennings, anchor of ABC's "World News Tonight," will receive the next Edward R. Murrow Award for Lifetime Achievement in Broadcasting from Washington State University. Jennings will visit the Pullman campus April 14 to accept the award. Jennings joined ABC News in 1964 and was named anchor and senior editor of "World News Tonight" in 1983. Murrow graduated from Washington State in 1930 and became a towering figure in the development of broadcast radio and television.

Rutgers giving degree to late tap dancer

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- The late tap-dancing actor Gregory Hines will be awarded an honorary degree by Rutgers University in May. Hines, considered the greatest tap dancer of his generation, died of cancer in August at age 57. He had created the Gregory Hines-Dancepower Endowed Scholarship at the state university. The Tony Award winner starred on Broadway and in movies.

Prince takes break from job in Outback

BRISBANE, Australia -- At the start of Australia's sweltering summer, Britain's Prince Harry has taken a break from his job as a cowboy. According to the Sunshine Coast Daily newspaper, Prince Harry has been seen in the swank coastal resort town of Noosa. The prince, third in line to the British throne, has been working for the past six weeks at a ranch near the Outback town of Roma.
