Actor Amos helps victims of wildfire
LOS ANGELES -- Actor John Amos had to do something when he heard about a man driven out of his home so quickly by last month's wildfires that he didn't have time to grab his shoes. Amos has given the family $500 for food and gas, sent them clothes and sent a limousine to take them to a taping of television's "All About the Andersons" in which he co-stars. "You know, I'm in a business where you have people complaining about the size of their trailers, complaining about the quality of the caviar," said Amos, who also has had a recurring role as an admiral on "The West Wing."
Remote location prime for Howard's 'Missing'
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- For director Ron Howard, the lonely canyons and remote ranches of New Mexico seemed the perfect background for his new suspense film. "The Missing" stars Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett in a tale of a pioneer mother who reunites with her wayward father to hunt for her abducted daughter. The vastness of the landscape was also key to conveying evil in the film, he said. "The Missing" is Howard's first Western. He won an Oscar for directing 2001's "A Beautiful Mind."
'Chasing Amy' star suspected of DUI
SAN DIEGO -- Actress Joey Lauren Adams, who appeared in "Chasing Amy" and "Big Daddy," was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Friday after an officer saw her pull into a gas station and stop after hitting the curb a few times, police said. Adams, 38, was later released on her own recognizance, the San Diego Union Tribune reported. Adams had roles this year in "A Promise Kept" with Sean Patrick Flanery and "The Big Empty" with Adam Beach.
