Saint Francis surgeon named to editorial board
Edward M. Bender, MD, FACS, cardiothoracic surgeon on staff at Saint Francis Medical Center's Heart Institute, now serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, a new online medical journal.
The editorial board is made up of a group of 32 physicians from around the world. Bender is one of 11 U.S. physicians responsible for reviewing selected articles and providing commentary before they are published online.
Published by BioMed Central, the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery accepts articles documenting clinical and experimental advances in cardiac and thoracic surgery and related fields. The Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery is accessible at www.cardiothoracicsurgery.org.
Trisha Wischmann, innkeeper at TLC Bed & Breakfast and Wellness Center in Jackson, recently attended the Bed & Breakfast Inns of Missouri Spring Conference. The workshop was held March 6 through 8 at Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, Mo. The workshop was for B&B owners to learn the latest trends within the industry and how to become even more service oriented.
The Jana Jateff and Sheri Dost units with Mary Kay Cosmetics recently held a model night in Cape Girardeau. The guest with the biggest difference in her "before" and "after" picture was presented a diamond ring.
The winner was Mary Estes, whose consultant was Jateff. First runner-up and "best smile" was Brandy Cazenave, whose consultant was Amy Maddox; and second runner-up was Theresa Mayfield, whose consultant was Lisa Bollinger. Mary Kay Cosmetics has been the best-selling brand for 13 years in a row.
Marlene Bell of Chaffee has been recognized for outstanding sales achievement with National Cos. by reaching the Bronze Presidential Director level. That level, according to the company, means that Bell demonstrated a belief in the company model and their benefits package.
