Louisiana town gets surprise visit by Oprah
NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Oprah Winfrey took a fan up on her offer and made a surprise visit to Louisiana's oldest town.
Peggy Plunkett was in the audience at a taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show two weeks ago when she stood up and said: "Oprah, everybody in Natchitoches loves you. You should come and visit," according to Winfrey.
Winfrey arrived unannounced Friday afternoon. She joined Northwestern State University's homecoming parade and spoke at a pep rally for the school's sports program.
A segment on her visit will air soon on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Queen reigns again on walk of fame
LOS ANGELES -- Queen fans were in a "Bohemian Rhapsody" Friday when their favorite band got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
About 500 fans cheered when the star was unveiled in front of Ivar Nightclub. Band members Brian May and Roger Taylor attended the ceremony.
American fans of the 1970s British group had mounted a campaign to get the star for May, Taylor, John Deacon and lead vocalist Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS in 1991.
Queen's hits include "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are the Champions" and "We Will Rock You."
Actor Bill Pullman haunted by house tour
WHITEHALL, Mont. -- Bill Pullman wasn't the attraction -- it was the butcher's room, electric chair and corpses.
The 48-year-old actor, who starred in 1996's "Independence Day," was among those invited to a sneak preview of a "haunted house" at an old hotel Wednesday night.
"I tell you, someone grabbed the calf of my leg when I was in there and I wasn't expecting that," said Pullman, who has a ranch nearby.
The Whitehall Haunted House raises money for local nonprofit groups.
