The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought about current U.S. military involvement in Iraq and the establishment of safe haven settlements for Kurdish refugees.
Kelly Kenser: "I think we're doing the right thing. Since we won the war, we should be able to set the rules. We are not being too tough on Iraq, because we could have done worse."
Coleman Cedric: "I think we owe them that much to help in this way. I feel it is part of the clean-up after the war and our responsibility to help them."
Janie McGaugh: "It's a good thing, but we pulled back before we should have in the war. The people in power in Iraq are not for all their people, and now they need our help."
Bart Ozbun: "I fully support our military moves in Iraq to further the cause of freedom. I believe we stopped too soon, and if Saddam is not removed, it will happen all over again."
Janet Esicar: "I have supported the president since the beginning of the conflict, and I would continue to support his actions. I'm proud of what Americans are doing."
Sahar Dorris: "We should help the Kurdish people. They did what President Bush wanted them to do in opposing Saddam Hussein, and now they need our help. Iran can't do it all."
