The Southeast Missourian asked students at Trinity Lutheran School about their belief in the winter weather forecasting ability of the woolly bear caterpillar as well as their own predictions of this winter's weather. The Southeast Missourian asked students at Trinity Lutheran School about their belief in the winter weather forecasting ability of the woolly bear caterpillar as well as their own predictions of this winter's weather.

Jennifer Daume: "I think we can tell from the woolly worm what the winter will be like. I think we will probably have a harsh winter, because it has been so cold already."

Ashley McElreath: "I sort of believe it. The woolly worms can probably let us know if we know what to look for. From the way it has been, I think we will probably have a harsh winter."

Elizabeth Meyr: "I think you can tell from the woolly worm, because of their color. It's not always true, though. I think we'll probably have a real cold winter."

Jake Burgfield: "I think if you study the woolly worms a lot, it would make sense that they can forecast what winter will be like. I think we will have a cold winter, because it's been cold already."

Ramsey Stevens: "I think that God can use the woolly worm to tell people what is going to happen with winter. We'll probably have a harsh winter because it's been cold lately."

Andrea Birk: "I think the bands on the woolly bears are there to tell us what the winter could be like. I think it's probably going to be a cold winter."
