The Southeast Missourian asked patrons at the Cape Girardeau Public Library how they liked the library's new Sunday hours of noon to 4 p.m.
Mike Johns: "I like it a lot better on Sunday. It seems like you can get around a lot better because there aren't as many people here. I'm a student at Southeast, so it helps that it opens earlier on Sunday than Kent Library."
Jennifer Ruebel: "It's lots of fun. You get to enjoy the peace and quiet while reading. I came to the library with my parents. I'm checking out some books and records. I especially like the story records."
Mary Harriet Talbut: "I'm very grateful for the new hours. I'm a graduate student and the research that I'm doing cannot be done at Kent Library. I am using the microfilm viewer to look at editions of the Southeast Missourian from the 1920's."
Jill Franklin: "It's not very crowded. You can usually find the books you want. I'm looking for books on insects and leaves for a project I'm doing in class. I'll do some studying here and also take some books home with me."
Janice Finley: "I enjoy it very much. I would expect the library to be a little quieter on Sunday. I remember when you could only whisper in a library. I come here about twice a week, and I am sure I'll make Sunday one of my regular days to come."
Dennis Depro: "It's nice that you can come here on Sunday. I'm a baseball fan, so I like to come here and read about baseball in magazines and newspapers. I'll probably come here more after baseball season is over instead of watching football on TV Sunday afternoon."
