The Southeast Missourian asked people about their concern for possible renewed hostilities between Iraq and the United States. Gary Beggs: "I would be very surprised if we would go back to a war situation over there. It's more of a policing action now to get them to admit that they have more war machinery. The Southeast Missourian asked people about their concern for possible renewed hostilities between Iraq and the United States.

Gary Beggs: "I would be very surprised if we would go back to a war situation over there. It's more of a policing action now to get them to admit that they have more war machinery. I think Saddam has to `fess up, or he'll be in deeper trouble than he is now."

Tim Liley: "I think Saddam will back down and there won't be any renewed hostilities. I think President Bush is handling the situation well. If he sends troops back in there, then I think he would shoot down his chances for re-election. I think Saddam will comply with the U.N."

Alice Niswonger: "I'm a little concerned, but I'm not too worried about it yet. I would hate to think that we have to go back over there, but if we have to, we have to. I think we just have to get a few details ironed out over there."

Martin Grossman: "I would hate to see any more lives lost on either side. I would hope that Saddam would allow the U.N. to do what they need to do over there, but he is not a rational man. He knows what we can do, so maybe he has seen the light."

Anita Meinz: "I feel that President Bush is going in the right direction. We've given Saddam warnings before, and we've shown him what we can do. I don't think our troops would have come back if they didn't think it was settled. We would have stayed over there if necessary."

Brad Davis: "I don't feel that the American people are ready to shell out the money that is involved in us being a part of another war. We have entirely too many problems at home. I think we should give Saddam enough rope to hang himself."
