PEOPLE

The Southeast Missourian asked children why they are looking forward to going back to school.

Renee Shoulders: "I missed reading this summer, so I'm looking forward to that at school. I also missed some of my friends."

Dujuan Jones: "School is fun. I want to go back especially for spelling and math. Also, I want to play some basketball when I get back."

Ryan Dewrock: "I want to go back because I get to play with my friends there and also in gym class. I like art class and making things."

Tyler Barnhart: "I want to go back and see my friends. I like science class and also math. I also wish the summer was a little longer."

Sabrina Madison: "I'm looking forward to being in the sixth grade and being with the big kids. You also get to buy your own lunch."

Jamie Welter: "I'll be in kindergarten. You learn a lot of neat stuff and get to do fun stuff. I'll get to ride a school bus and learn to read."
