The Southeast Missourian asked students at L.J. Schultz Middle School who they thought should be the next president of the United States.
Andrew Witvoet: "I think George Bush should be the next president, because he has a lot of experience in being president. I like what he is doing for the country as far as social programs and eliminating poverty."
LaDonna Smith: "I think we should elect Bill Clinton, because he has better ideas to help our country to become stronger. I think Clinton would provide more change for our country than Bush would, and we need change."
Amy Friese: "I think Americans should elect Bill Clinton. I really liked Ross Perot, though. I didn't really care much for George Bush. I would be open at this point, however, I would lean toward Clinton for president."
David Ham: "President Bush should be re-elected. He has experience as president and he will spend more money on schools and the military. I think we should have a strong military. I think that Bush will make the changes necessary for our country."
Nisha Shah: "I think we should elect Bill Clinton. President Bush's policies just aren't working. He's moved us into a recession. I think we need a change, and while I haven't made up my mind yet, I think Clinton's policies will move us ahead."
Keshia Dockery: "I like Bill Clinton. I like what he says about helping our school. I would like to see how Clinton would do as president. I think we need a big change, and I don't think that Bush would change very much."
