The Southeast Missourian asked people if they thought President Bush should "dump Dan Quayle" and pick a new running mate for vice president.
Derik Davis: "I feel it would help George Bush in the election if he would select a stronger candidate for vice president who has more influence and more potential than Dan Quayle. Clinton won't be a pushover in this election."
Rebecca Doane: "I think George Bush should dump Dan Quayle, because he deserves a better running mate and we deserve a better vice president. I think Bush would have a better chance of winning the election without Quayle."
Kevin Winkle: "I feel that President Bush should dump Dan Quayle and get someone with more credibility if he wants to be re-elected. It seems that a lot of Perot supporters will be going over to Clinton. If Bush supports change, he should change his running mate."
Larry Lowrance: "George Bush should keep Dan Quayle. Maybe Quayle will help him lose the election and we will get a change in government. If he dumps Quayle, the chances are that he will win. Bush needs to be retired and Quayle will help him."
Margaret Walker: "President Bush needs to dump Quayle and get a different running mate. I think that Bush needs all the help he can get in this election, because he does not really push what he believes in. He lets people walk over him."
Angie Hennemann: "If I were Bush, I would get rid of Dan Quayle and pick someone else for a running mate. I think that Bush needs to get someone who will help him out a lot more than Quayle would. I think the Democrats are a stronger challenge to him this time."
