The Southeast Missourian asked people if they thought the government's involvement with the Branch Davidians Sect religious cult in Waco, Texas was necessary and done properly.

Dan Roberts said, "I don't believe the officers involved knew exactly what was going on before they went in there. Perhaps they should have done a little more research before taking any action. Seems their actions were pretty hasty."

Rick Bigari said, "I think they went into the compound prematurely. Now he's looking for a lot of publicity and getting it. As far as solving the problem, perhaps we should wait it out for no one else will get hurt or killed."

Keith Atchley said, "I believe it was necessary to go in when they did. But I think they should have done it a lot faster and got it over with. The way it is, it has dragged out way too long. They should just go in and wipe him out and get rid of the whole problem."

Josie Glueck said, "I believe the government involvement was proper and they are handling it as delicately as they can. If they go charging in I think there will be more deaths. I don't think they really know how to approach it. They are doing it a step at a time."

Glenna Pierce said, "I'm sure they considered themselves to be thoroughly informed when they went in. Too many times the majority of us feel things are not done quick enough. We do expect our government to move quickly and solve all problems."

Charles Mays said, "It was not handled properly. There were better ways of handling the problem. To go in the way they did was a violation of those people's rights. People have a right to protect themselves from excessive force. The government acted wrong."
