The Southeast Missourian asked people what they thought the goal of the U.S. military should be now that it is once again actively involved in the bombing of Iraq's weapons and military sites.
Nina Blanton said, "I understood our purpose for being over there was to stop Saddam. We need to make sure he no longer has power and make sure all the missiles and weapons have been clearly taken out of his possession and the people that make them have no more access to do so."
Bill Stickler said, "I think they should go ahead and finish the job they started this time and get Saddam and get him out of power so the military won't have to go back in several more months and do it again."
Shawn Douglas said, "I feel if Saddam doesn't quit, which he apparently is not going to do, we should go ahead and use whatever action is needed. We have already whipped him once and we can do it again."
Jerry Hart said, "I think our goal should be to take him out right now. We've been in there once and evidently we just stepped on his toes and he didn't like it. He's hurting too many people over there and he should be brought to justice."
Petina Hillis said, "I think they should kick his butt. We have already been in there once and we have lost too many lives. We are playing leap frog with him. We should do something about him and get it over with."
Craig Williams said, "I don't like war. We should not be playing games with people's lives. If we are going to be there we should get in, get out, and let it be over with before it gets worse."
