The Southeast Missourian asked people flro their thoughts about the suggested increase in the price of fa first-class postage stamp.
Mary Berry, Cape Girardeau
"I think they should cut down on some of the waste. My brother is a retired mailman in California. It's (the increase) necessary but, they need to cut down on waste."
Bob James, Cape Girardeau
"It's a good buy regardless (of the increase). I mean heck, they paid more than that when the Pony Express was doing it ... it took a week to get the darn thing there."
Barbara Beis, Cape Girardeau
"They keep rising every year. I don't see the point on why they raise it. They keep raising it. It costs us more money to send a letter ... it's not worth it to send the letter. It's cheaper to make a phone call these days."
Tim Keller, Cape Girardeau
"I have no problem with it. I thought the cost of a first class letter was a bargain anyway."
Michael Gardner, Cape Girardeau
"I think the postal service is inefficient and I think they could do a better job if they turned the post office into a privately owned company."
Lynn DeHaan, Cape Girardeau
"I don't think they need it. I think if they get more efficient then we could probably do with even less than a 29 cent stamp."
