Pedestrian is killed near Puxico

A pedestrian died after being struck by a car early Friday near Puxico, Missouri.

Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope pronounced Phillip A. Manning, 21, of Sikeston, Missouri, dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m. His body was transported to the Stoddard County morgue.

According to reports, a 2009 Cadillac driven by Garey L. Faries, 76, of Puxico was being driven on Highway 53 at 12:20 a.m. when the car struck Manning, who was in the roadway about one mile south of Puxico.

Reports indicate Faries was not injured.
