MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- A Patton man was in custody Saturday and another was in the hospital following what police describe as a domestic dispute that ended in a stabbing.

Lawrence Schanda, 38, was in custody at the Bollinger County Jail on Saturday awaiting charges that police expected to be filed Sunday.

Bollinger County Sheriff's Deputy Della Moore said police were called at about 8 p.m. Friday by a woman who had been flagged down by a man in Patton near Meadow Heights High School. The man, Schanda, allegedly told the driver that another man was hurting and in need of medical attention, Moore said. The woman called 911.

Schanda fled to Perry County in a stolen vehicle, Moore said, where he was apprehended by police there Saturday morning. Moore picked him up and transported him to the Bollinger County Jail, where he is awaiting charges, she said. He will likely appear in court Wednesday, she said. Bond has yet to be set.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, also from Patton, was in an area hospital in stable condition after being stabbed in the abdomen, she said.
