A Patton man was killed Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving was struck head-on by a car.

Authorities identified the victim as Wendell Lincoln, 33, of Patton.

The driver of the car, Edith Spalding, 67, of Cape Girardeau, received serious injuries in the accident. She was in satisfactory condition Sunday at St. Francis Hospital, according to a hospital spokesman.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Spalding was traveling west on Highway 34, four miles east of Burfordville, when she crossed the center line, striking Lincoln's motorcycle head on.

The patrol said it is not known what caused Spalding to lose control of her vehicle. The accident occurred at 8:09 p.m.

Lincoln died a short time later at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
