CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Gallery 100 will host Richard A. Lawson's photography exhibit, "Parts of a World," beginning Sunday when an opening reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the gallery.
The display will run through Feb. 28.
"Parts of a World" contains 40 works in various photographic techniques. Landscape subjects include the Giant City Waterfall, Shaw Gardens and the St. Louis Cathedral.
Lawson is currently teaching at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He has received many grants and awards for his work, including funds from SIU and the Smithsonian Institute to prepare a book on the WPA/Federal Art Projects in Illinois from 1935-1943.
His teaching specialties include William Faulkner, Thomas Pynchon, literature and still photography.
Gallery 100 hosts a different exhibit each month, with an opening reception for the artist usually being held on the first Sunday of the month.
Regular Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. weekdays. The gallery is at 100 Broadway, inside the Boatmen's Bank building in Cape Girardeau.
The gallery is sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts with financial assistance from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
