Storm drain pipe liner installation begins Tuesday on Broadway in Cape Girardeau.
The work will close a portion of the street just east of Main Street and will affect traffic access to Water Street as well.
Project work by contractor SAK Construction will begin about 9 a.m. Tuesday, and the city said it should be finished in about 18 hours, weather permitting. Work will be continuous to minimize disruptions.
Detours will be marked in the area around the work zone, and drivers are asked to use caution.
The work wraps a two-part process where SAK will install a "cured in place liner" in the 42-inch storm drain pipe along Broadway, the city said. The project is part of the city's maintenance responsibility along the floodwall and its components.
The drain being lined serves the area along and around the eastern end of Broadway, and it drains into the Mississippi River. Stage one of this project occurred last month.
