To celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month, the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the public to join them Friday in a day of fun.
Annual Parks and Recreation Day is a free event featuring ice cream, prizes, crafts and games. Those attending can also get a free child admission to Cape Splash from 3 to 7 p.m. with the purchase of an adult admission. The voucher must be presented at the water park for the free admission.
The event has continued to grow in popularity each year. City officials estimated about 1,000 people attended last year.
Parks and Recreation day will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Osage Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway. More information is available by contacting Cassie Essner at 339-6340 or cessner@cityofcapegirardeau.org.
