A woman was injured after her driver struck a rock embankment near Apple Creek and a man hurt after losing control on an icy roadway near Perryville, Mo., in two separate accidents on Sunday.
The first accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. north of Route T. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Matthew J. Favier, 24, of Perryville was driving is 1986 GMC Sierra pickup truck when he lost control on an ice-covered County Road 806. The truck then traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Favier was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for moderate injuries. The highway patrol said Favier was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
Later in the day, two people from Southaven, Miss., were traveling in a 2007 Ford F-150 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the southbound lane of Interstate 55, mile marker 116.6.
The driver, Yogesh S. Purohit, 47, over corrected but ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a rock embankment and overturned. While the driver was not injured, a passenger in the vehicle, Sengeeda Purohit, 43, sustained moderate injuries and was treated at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Both were wearing their seat belt when the accident occurred.
