The Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club will celebrate military veterans at its meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Dexter Bar-B-Que, 236 S. Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau.
All area veterans are invited to attend and have dinner provided by the club starting at 6 p.m., according to a news release from the Pachyderms. The program will feature Kenneth Bender, who, as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, flew 22 missions over Japan; Dave Hitt, a retired Army master sergeant who in 1968 served as a combat engineer in Vietnam; and Matt Jenkins, a retired command sergeant major with the Army National Guard who served in Iraq in 2006.
