PACHYDERM CLUB TO MEET FRIDAY

The Southeast Missouri Area Pachyderm club will meet Friday at noon at Port Cape Girardeau Restaurant. The program will be a review of pending legislation on managed health care.

Carolyn Smith of the Partnership for Affordable Quality Health Care will present the pros and cons of the legislation. Proposed legislation has faced opposition from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, Associated Industries of Missouri and the AFL-CIO.

According to a recent survey, only 44 percent of American workers were enrolled in a managed care plan in 1992. The number had increased to 81 percent in 1996.

The Southeast Missouri Area Pachyderm Club is an official auxiliary of the Republican National Committee. Pachyderm Clubs emphasize programs centered around politics and government. Meetings are open to the public.
