Several accidents Saturday included an overturned car in Dutchtown and a vehicle landing in a field near Old Appleton, leading to injuries of Southeast Missourians.

The first accident occurred around 9:45 a.m., when a 2007 Chevrolet truck driven by Laccey W. Umfleet, 41, of Jackson attempted to pass a 2002 John Deer tractor driven by Joshua B. Veussink, 23, of Cape Girardeau on Highway 25 in Dutchtown, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The tractor then began to make a left turn and struck the side of the Chevrolet, which overturned after traveling off the right side of the roadway.

Umfleet - who was not wearing his seat belt - was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment of serious injuries. Veussink was not injured. The tractor was not damaged while the Chevrolet was totaled.

Later that evening a Sikeston teen was among four people injured in a two-car collision at Highway 80 and U.S. 61 east of Matthews, Mo.
