The third annual "Christmas in Southeast Missouri" Christmas ornament, designed by Cape Girardeau artist Mark Farmer to benefit the Southeast Missouri Easter Seal Society, is now available.
The 1993 edition is the third in a series of ornaments based on Farmer's drawings.
Each year the ornament salutes a different area landmark. This year's ornament depicts Old No. 5, the restored and operating steam engine of the Iron Mountain Railroad in Jackson.
The "Christmas in Southeast Missouri" ornament is solid brass and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. There are only 500 ornaments available in this limited edition.
The ornaments sell for $12 each plus $1 for shipping and handling. To avoid shipping and handling costs, the ornaments may be purchased at the Easter Seal Society office, 316 Plaza Way in Cape Girardeau, or at the Iron Mountain Railroad Depot, 505 Benton Rd. in Jackson.
A small number of 1992 ornaments depicting the old courthouse and clock in Cape Girardeau are available for $8, which includes shipping and handling.
Funds raised from "Christmas in Southeast Missouri" ornament sales directly support programs and services provided by the Southeast Missouri Easter Seal Society for people with disabilities. For more information, call Easter Seals at 335-3377.
