CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The original writings of two L.J. Schultz Middle School seventh graders are featured in the 1991 issue of "Missouri Youth Writes," published by the Missouri Association of Teachers of English.

"Fiery Beasts," a poem by Diana Bartosik, and "The Trap Door," a short story by Abram Jackson, are among student selections from around the state chosen for this year's publication.

Fifty selections make up the book, representing over 600 entries judged in the Missouri Association of Teachers of English writing competition this spring.

Bartosik is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bartosik of Cape Girardeau.

Jackson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goldstein of Cape Girardeau.
