Registration for Cape Girardeau's downtown golf tournament is down this year, and organizers are encouraging procrastinators to turn in their entry forms.
Organizer Charlie Herbst said he's not sure if the delay is because people are busy with other activities, or because interested players have not turned in their form. He's asking anyone interested in playing to get the form in as soon as possible so he can make final plans based on the number of players.
The First-ever Third Annual Louis J. Lorimier Memorial World-famous Downtown Golf Tournament and All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Buffet is June 22, and is open to everyone -- whether they golf or not. Two 9-hole courses will take players throughout the downtown riverfront, followed by a catfish dinner on the Common Pleas Courthouse lawn. The event is a fundraiser for the Red House Interpretive Center.
A $25 entry fee includes the catfish buffet, dessert, a T-shirt and BirdieBalls. The registration form is available on semissourian.com, and should be returned to: Downtown Golf Tournament. A.C. Brase Arena, 410 Kiwanis Dr., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
